Capturing conversations

The four ways a conversation gets into Auron, and what to check so capture is reliable.

Everything downstream depends on capture. A signal is only as good as the transcript it came from.

Four ways in

An agent joins a live meeting. The agent participates under its operating mode and the transcript builds as people speak. Started from Home, from an entity record on the phone, or scheduled ahead.

A phone call. Where an agent has a number assigned, its calls are captured under the same model as meetings. Inbound and outbound are configured per agent.

A chat. Typed rather than spoken, and still a full conversation record: linked to a record, governed the same way, producing the same outputs.

An uploaded transcript. A conversation that happened with no agent in the room can be uploaded and turned into a session after the fact. This is the option people forget, and it is what stops in-person meetings being a blind spot.

Operating modes

For live voice, the mode decides how present the agent is.

ModeUse it when
ListenThe agent should capture and stay out of the way
ConversationIt should answer when asked and never interrupt
DiscoveryYou want it drawing out detail with follow-up questions
RecapYou are closing, and want decisions and next steps read back

The mode can be changed mid-meeting, and every change is recorded in the transcript. Starting in Listen and switching to Recap for the last two minutes is a good default for meetings with customers in the room.

Making capture reliable

Link it to a record. A session with no record attached still produces a transcript, but its signals have nothing to accumulate on. Starting from the record rather than from a blank session avoids this.

Pick the right agent. Only published agents attached to that record's entity are offered. If the one you want is missing, it is either a draft or not attached to that entity.

Watch the connection. A call is as good as the network. On a weak connection the transcript lags and catches up. If you are somewhere with no signal, record a voice note instead and analyse it later.

Say the important things out loud. Obvious, and still the biggest determinant of what you get back. A decision made by nodding does not appear in the transcript.

After capture

A finished session carries its transcript, a summary, the signals detected in it, whatever artefacts and reports you generate, and whatever automations fired around it. Transcripts can be exported. See Meetings and chats.
