Feed

The feed is where the organization talks to itself and where Auron reports back. It holds three kinds of item.

Posts are written by people. A post has body text, attachments, and an audience: everyone, selected teams, or selected members. Posts can be edited after publishing, and pinned by owners and admins so they stay at the top.

System updates are written by Auron, in two cases: an automation with a Post to feed step, and an export finishing. Each links to the thing it is about. Background work that concerns one person, such as a report they asked for or an import they ran, notifies that person instead of posting to the whole organization.

Interactive cards are polls and approval requests. A poll can be a question with a tally or a set of buttons, and can accept more than one answer. An approval request comes from an automation that needs a human decision, and offers Approve and Reject with no tally. Once resolved, by anyone or by the automation expiring, the card shows the outcome instead of the buttons.

The person who posted

The author's name and avatar on a post link to their profile, which shows their bio and the organizations you have in common. System updates have no author to open.

Reacting

Items can be liked and commented on, with threaded replies. Comments can be liked too. The comment and like lists page as you scroll.

Drafts

An unfinished post is kept for you. Whatever is in the composer is saved to the browser about half a second after you stop typing, so closing the tab by accident does not lose it. Reopen the composer and the draft comes back, with a line at the top saying when it was saved and a Discard link if you do not want it.

Closing the composer with anything written in it asks first, with three ways out: keep editing, save it as a draft, or discard it. Closing the browser tab gets the browser's own "leave site?" prompt.

Two limits worth knowing. Attachments are not part of the draft, because the files only exist in the page until you post; a restored draft comes back with its text, audience and poll but no images or documents. And a draft is kept for seven days, after which it is dropped.

Drafts are per browser and per organization, and editing an existing post keeps its own separate draft from a new one. Nothing is saved to the server, so a draft written on your laptop is not waiting on your phone.

Mentioning someone

Type @ in a post, a comment or a reply and a list of people and teams appears. Arrow keys move through it, Enter or Tab picks one, Escape closes it. Once posted the name reads in blue, and clicking a mentioned person opens their profile. Team mentions are styled the same but do not open anything.

The list only offers people who can already see the post. On a post addressed to selected teams you get those teams and their members; on one addressed to selected members you get exactly those people and no teams at all. A mention can never let someone see a post they were not already an audience for.

Mentioning a team notifies every active member of it.

Being mentioned does two things. It sends the person a notification, and it subscribes them to the post, so they also hear about later comments on it even though they did not write it. Replies inside a thread stay narrower and only reach the person being replied to.

Editing a post to fix a typo does not notify the people already named in it again. Adding a new name in an edit notifies only that person. Renaming a user leaves the old text as written, and the mention stops being highlighted until someone edits the post.

Who can do what

Owners, admins and users can post and mention. Pinning, and editing or removing someone else's post, is limited to owners and admins. Guests read only.

The same feed on mobile

The items are the same on the phone, approvals included, which is deliberate: an approval that blocks an automation should be resolvable from wherever you are.

The phone sorts them differently. Rather than filtering by kind of record, it has four tabs that answer questions: All, Actions for approvals waiting on a decision, Insights for charts, and Threads for what people wrote. See Feed on mobile.
