Knowledge stores
The documents and text agents ground their answers in, and who can reach them.
A knowledge store is a named collection of material an agent can draw on: policies, playbooks, product documentation, approved wording. An agent with a store attached answers from it instead of from general knowledge.
Creating one
A store has a name and an optional description. You can add tags, and key and value pairs of metadata, which is how a large set of stores stays navigable.
Adding material
Two routes in:
- Upload files.
- Paste text directly, for something that does not exist as a file.
Everything added is listed inside the store, and can be viewed or deleted individually. A file finishes processing before an agent can use it.
Who can reach a store
Stores can be attached to teams, and are attached to agents in the Knowledge stores section of the agent's configuration. Attaching a store to an agent is what lets it answer from that material.
On the phone, people can attach a store's files to a single chat message when they want the agent to look at one specific document. They cannot create or change stores from there. See Chats on mobile.
Plan limits
The number of active stores, and the amount of material in them, is capped by your plan. Creating another store past the cap is refused. Current usage is in Usage.
